Volley ball: It’s all started in the middle of 80s, when local “seagulls” (local Don Juans), taking American movies as model, took volley net and spread it between two tamarisks.Off course, the glances of the foreigners were unavoidable, so the volley has become more popular then “picigin” (another beach game).
In the beginning there were 4 vs. 4 playing. Meanwhile, guys from Znjan (part of Split) came one day to the beach and said:“C’mon guys! What’s the matter with you?! What rednecks! You should play 2 vs. 2 in beach volley”. Starting with that day we stepped into the Age of Rules, and the next step was foundation of the Club "GUSAR" (“PIRATE”). Today there are thirty male and seventy female members of the club, and each year in August beach volley tournaments are organized, gathering the best Croatian volley couples.
